Just like we did for the Pan American Championship, our competition classes for the Worlds will be every Monday (6:00 to 7:00 pm) and Thursday (7:00 to 8:00 pm). Needless to say our competition training is open to non competitors (white belt 3 stripes or over) and also to students from other GB Schools.

This is an amazing video for our students to watch at the Earth Day week. It is form 1992 when the United Nations hosted a Environmental Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This little girl steped it in front of governement representatives from all over the world and made this amazing speech!

17 years have passed and not much has happened to change the course of Environmental Degradation, but this speech remains as one of the most remarkable moments of the summit!

Congratulations Gracie Barra Team Member!  We are again the Pan American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team Champions; Gracie Humaita took 2nd and Alliance 3rd.  From White to Black Belt Gracie Barra represented itself with professionalism and skill and not only secured the 1st place team award but displayed the character and team unity we bring to the world through Jiu-Jitsu.

Ricardo “Big Dog” Almeida, brother of Prof. Flavio Almeida from GB San Clemente, won again inside the octagon.

The talent gap between Ricardo Almeida and Matt Horwich proved as significant as many had feared.

Almeida (10-3) cruised to a unanimous decision against the accomplished Team Quest veteran at UFC Fight Night 18 on Wednesday at the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tenn. All three judges sided with Almeida by matching 30-27 scores in a bout where the outcome seemed almost inevitable.

A former middleweight King of Pancrase, Almeida dominated Horwich with takedowns and top control, as he grounded him at will. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt put Horwich on his back in every round and threatened him with a guillotine choke in the first. The one-time International Fight League champion spent much of his time and energy scrambling back to his feet, only to be taken down again by Almeida.

Horwich (22-12-1) has yet to taste victory inside the Octagon and has dropped three of his past four bouts overall, including two straight. Almeida has won eight of nine dating back to a November 2002 Pancrase appearance.
